Social Skills

At IAS, we believe that individual sessions and group sessions go hand-in-hand. When we outline your child’s treatment plan, we will determine the best time to introduce social skills group. Your child will be grouped with other students based on both skill level and age, something that is unique to IAS groups.

Although we work through skills in a group setting, each child still continues to work on individual goals in the context of the group. It’s important to remember that developing social skills is a process – taking one skill and building on it for the next.

Unlike most other agencies, our hour long social skills groups run year-round to allow kids the opportunity to continue working on their goals. Our module-based program targets skills across seven different areas of development including joint attention, greetings, social play, self-awareness, conversations, perspective taking and critical thinking.
